Femundsmarka Crossing – Norway & Sweden
A self-supported crossing through the quietest and wildest parts of Scandinavia, travelling across frozen lake systems, forest and open snowfields between Norway and Sweden. Femundsmarka has no marked winter trail, willow sticks or prepared tracks. This is reindeer, moose, beaver and otter country, with possible wolverine or bear tracks. Along the way we build core winter expedition habits: pulks, campcraft, stoves, lake crossings, ice assessment and cold weather routines.

Level Three Crossings
Hardangervidda has a serious place in polar and wartime history. Roald Amundsen’s early winter crossing here nearly ended in disaster, and during the Second World War the plateau became part of the route used by the Norwegian resistance during Operation Gunnerside, later remembered through the story of the Heroes of Telemark.
Today, it remains one of the classic proving grounds for Nordic winter travel. We cross Norway’s largest mountain plateau by ski, travelling with pulks through open, exposed country where the weather often sets the tone.
This is not a hut-to-hut journey. We carry what we need, camp out each night and manage the routines that matter on bigger expeditions: efficient movement, winter navigation, strong camp systems and looking after yourself through long days in cold, wind and poor visibility.

Finnmarksvidda Crossing - Norway
Cross the far north of mainland Norway by ski through Sámi country, frozen lakes, birch forest and open Arctic plateau.
Starting near Alta — the Northern Lights city and home of the Finnmarksløpet dog-sled race — this journey crosses Finnmarksvidda, a vast winter landscape often used by expedition teams preparing for larger objectives such as Greenland.
Travel with pulks through cold, exposed terrain by day, then camp beneath clear skies, hard frost and possible aurora in one of the world’s best regions for seeing the Northern Lights.

Sarek Crossing - Sweden
Sarek is one of the places I keep coming back to in my head when I think about proper winter expedition travel. It is remote, glaciated, and committing, with no marked winter trails, no huts inside the core zone, and no simple way to step off the route if the weather turns.
We travel as a small team, hauling pulks through deep snow, alpine valleys, frozen lake systems, river crossings, forest and high cols. We will also travel through the world-famous Rapa Valley, normally one of Sarek’s most iconic landscapes, experienced here under winter conditions with the valley floor frozen and snow-covered beneath the surrounding peaks.

Level Four Crossings
Svalbard Crossing & Newtontoppen
This is a full high-Arctic crossing of Svalbard, starting with an exhilarating 9-hour journey riding your own skidoo north into the island’s glaciated interior, around 300km from Longyearbyen.
From there, we climb Newtontoppen, the highest mountain in Svalbard, if conditions allow, before continuing south through a landscape of glaciers, frozen valleys and mountain massifs. Everything we need comes with us: tents, food, fuel, rifles, bear safety systems and the equipment required to live and move safely in polar bear country.
For 17 days, the team travels with pulks through serious Arctic terrain, managing camp routines, cold-weather systems and 24-hour polar bear watch until we finally ski back into Longyearbyen.
